Tribal
Fest 10, "A Decade of DecaDance"
Performance Application and Information
You must read this to perform!
At
Tribal Fest, you'll be dancing on Friday, Saturday or Sunday,
so try to schedule fewer classes on these days because it will
make it easier to schedule you around them if you don't leave
just the last hour open (for example). The Show is on Fri. May
14 - Sun. May 16. The same idea pertains to leaving on Sunday.
I know it's usually because of work, but if at all possible,
try to leave at least a part of Sunday open - it will help your
chances, and Sunday's Show is every bit as talented and exciting
as the first 2 days!
The
scheduling mentioned above pertains especially to large groups;
you're the hardest to schedule if everyone in your group is
in class at different times throughout The Show, so I implore
you to talk at troupe meeting about times you can all agree
to keep open for performance possibilities. If things get too
complicated, even for small groups or soloists as far as when
you can perform - it is less likely that you will get to perform.
(But you'll sure learn a lot!) :
IMPORTANT
- NEW FOR TF10: We will no longer be using the "postmark
system" to determine who gets on stage as we've done in
the past. Instead, we're implementing one of several great new
ideas that came from the TF #9 #9 (3x3) Program Questionnaire.
Thanks to those of you who responded, we did listen! : Hopefully
the new idea will help take some of the stress off the process.
TO
PERFORM at Tribal Fest 10, "A Decade of DecaDance":
Please
print the Performance Application and Release Form further down,
fill both documents out, and send them along with a copy of
your TF10 Shopping Cart/PayPal receipt for the classes you've
signed up for. (We advise you to print the Check-In Procedures
for Performers as well, though keep that for your own
information.) You have time to think about your classes and
have no need to rush. If "you" are a duo, trio, troupe,
or have musicians, please enclose everyone's class receipts
in the same envelope, all at one time, when you send us
the Application and Release. Please make sure that everyone
who will be onstage signs the Release. Thanks!
Remember,
order received has no bearing
upon this year's Performance Program.
Please
follow the above instructions at your leisure between the dates
of December 1, 2009 and February 15, 2010. I will start
the Performance Program immediately after Feb.15. (If you're
reading this after Feb.15, please email: TribalFest@aol.com
to see if there's still space. Cancellations happen, sometimes
last-minute.)
ALL
PROSPECTIVE PERFORMERS PLEASE NOTE: This is my disclaimer.
: Applying to perform is not a guarantee that you will be able
to do so. I try so hard every year to fit everyone in, and around
their class schedules, too, but for the last 2 years that has
just not been possible. On the other hand, we've adopted even
more ideas from TF #9's questionnaire that may help, so keep
reading. :)
Note
that the ONLY person/s to get in free are the performer/s themselves,
who are allowed into the Dressing Room after check-in. Everyone
else, please be prepared to enter through the Main Door at the
Front of the Auditorium, thank you.
VIDEOGRAPHY
*
At
TF10 Jeffe and Layla will be back as our unofficial videographers.
If you didn't take advantage of their inexpensive yet great
skills at TF#9, you may wish to talk with them this year. And
if you did, I am sure that you will again. :)
PHOTOGRAPHY
*
We
may have one or two (or more) established dance-scene photographers
on site, but ya never know for sure who'll be there when. If
you know them, or they have a cell phone number on a flyer posted
somewhere on the premises, on our Tribe, or an ad in the Program
(which are available on Wednesday), I'll bet they'd be happy
to schedule you for a certain time. Some may do hotel-room portraits
as well, keep your eyes open. They are usually more than happy
to photograph you and/or your group for free or for reasonable
fees.
*
And, as always, you may have someone videotape and/or photograph
your show. Or even capture a few of your favorite artists' performances
via those mediums for your personal viewing ONLY!. If you put
your performance on YouTube, Facebook or other such places,
please tell your viewers where and when it took place (Tribal
Fest 10, May 2010). Thank you so very much! :
PERFORMANCE
LENGTHS
Again,
in response to the TF#9 Program Questionnaire, one way to get
more people on stage is to slightly lessen everyone's time.
We agreed.
Solo
Performer: 5 minutes
2-4 Performers: 7 minutes
5 or more Performers: 9 minutes
Do
you plan on having LIVE MUSIC for your Performance? Then
please, email a.s.a.p. my husband, Chuck, Co-Producer, Internet
and email go-to-it-guy, AND sound guy for TF (um, as well as
having his own job, on the side [ha ha]) to discuss your needs
and the realities of live music at this venue BEFORE you say
"yes": TribalFest@aol.com
Teachers'
performance times will be kept a bit shorter as well this year.
All performance times will be noted in the Program, available
on Wednesday, the first day of Tribal Fest. If you have a song
that's less than your allotted time, please let me know so I
can schedule accordingly, I'd appreciate that. Thank you!
