She started with oriental dance in 1987 and she learned from
many well known dancers, such as Wendy Buonaventura, Suher Saki,
Nadia Hamdi, Nelly Mazloum, Amaya and many more.
In 1999 she opened her own studio and she also began to dance
Tribal Style Dance. She fell in love with ATS from Fat Chance
Belly Dance and first learned from Video and then she organized
workshops with FatChance teachers. She also liked Gypsy Caravan’s
Tribal Style and learned from Paulette Rees-Denis. Paulette
invited her and Neas Tribal to come to Tribal Quest North West.
Gabriella and Neas Tribal were the first German Tribal dancers
at the Quest in 2005.
Gabriella also hosted many Tribal Fusion dancers from the
USA and she learned from everyone. She created her own style,
called Neas Fundamentals, which included some ATS from FatChance,
some moves from Gypsy Caravan and a lot of her own creative
things.
In the summer of 2009 Gabriella hosted Kajira Djoumahna of BlackSheep
BellyDance in a weekend workshop as well as a Teacher Training
Course. She earned a Certificate to teach a new, separate Level
One class in the KD/BSBD Format for SGI (formerly ATS), along

Teacher: Stefanie Masters
Class Title and Description: BSBD Level 1 ~ Into The Web
In this 2-hour workshop experience
the power and strength that comes from being connected into
the web of dance, going beyond the technique…
Being completely in the moment,
knowing a joy that transcends words. Being prepared for anything,
yet holding no expectations. This is the web that connects us
in this most beautiful and challenging art form that is BSBD-Style
SGI* (formerly known as ATS). *Synchronized Group Improvisation
Stefanie will take you deeper into
the meaning of working together as a unit with her unique and
powerful style of teaching. Stefanie’s extensive background
as a holistic therapist and professional instructor for over
13 years will take beginners and advanced level students alike
to new levels of understanding.
By putting these concepts into
the body and the mind we are able to create a powerful and beautiful
presentation of dance regardless of our level of skill and expertise.
This workshop will introduce beginning
level techniques in Kajira Djoumahna’s internationally known
KD/BSBD Format for SGI Tribal Style BellyDance.
While technique will be broken
down, this workshop will focus on helping the student to develop
a sense of the WEB that connects us while we dance. Using innovative
techniques through the use of breath, posture and energy projection,
the student will gain a greater appreciation for In-The-Moment
dancing, connecting to each other, dancing for transformation,
meditation and raising energy as a group.
Come and experience the beauty
and power of moving INTO THE WEB, with Stefanie Masters!
Stefanie’s Bio:
Stefanie Masters is the owner of
Dance For The Soul (DFTS), a holistic studio focused on healing
the whole individual ~ body, mind and spirit. Stefanie is the
creator and director of the DFTS Masters Method for Health,
Healing & Living™ and The DFTS Format of Improvisational
Middle Eastern Dance.
She is an Award-Winning professional
Belly Dance performer and has been featured in Time Magazine,
Belly Dance, A Raqs Sharqi Magazine, M Magazine, The Journal
Sentinel and The Wall Street Journal. Stefanie offers a 15
month Teacher Training program in her DFTS Masters Format.
Stefanie is a professional dance
instructor, performer, event producer & the director of
her student troupe, BlackSheep BellyDance of Wisconsin. With
over 14 certifications and licensing in holistic movement and
healing modalities, Stefanie brings a unique whole approach
to her classes and seminars, with a focus on breath, posture,
technique and positive thought.
In 2007 while working on a special
project with the ladies of Trillium Troupe, Jennifer Nolan,
Marie Kaplan, and Traci Roberts, Stefanie was introduced to
American Tribal Style Belly Dance.
She fell in love with the aspect
of group improvisational choreography and began her search for
a teacher. Kajira Djoumahna’s contributions to ATS, especially
the use of both hips in this style, was optimal in Stefanie’s
opinion, to keeping balance in the body as well as the heart.
Stefanie, after pursuing her own
continued education, received certification in Kajira’s BlackSheep
BellyDance Format as an instructor in both Level One & Level
Two, and is now a proud member of BSBD Professional Troupe.
Working closely with Kajira, Stefanie
maintains a high level of integrity and continuity for the format,
allowing her to help her students delve deeper into the aspects
of building a connection to each other, opening their hearts
and ultimately allowing healing to manifest in the body and
heart through the dance.

Skill Level: Some work with Synchronized Group Improvisation (SGI), whether
in Kajira’s BSBD Format and/or Carolena’s FCBD Format (of which
the most important innovation for dance, in Kajira’s opinion,
is SGI) is helpful but not essential. Dancers of ANY
group improvisational style will understand more of the deeper
connections we forge via this style and all will benefit from
this class!
What to bring: Open mind, open heart, water and perhaps a notebook
What to Wear: Comfy dance attire
Note from Kajira: Stefanie has
quickly become my most active, committed and communicative member
of any of my Certified Teachers and of any member
of BlackSheep BellyDance! Her spirit is uplifting and gentle,
and comes across to others freely and unmistakably. She is also
my teacher in many ways; due in part to her deep understanding,
plentiful and well-earned Certifications and sought-after knowledge
of so many forms of health and healing modalities.
She has found ways to utilize this
higher learning in her classes and workshops in order to maximize
students’ dance training. She didn’t mention that she is also
a certified Doula, a.k.a. Midwife, and teaches bellydance for
pregnant women in addition to all of her other classes! I very
much admire Stefanie and her dancing and teaching skills, and
know you will be in GREAT hands in this class.
I will also state how deeply honored
I am that one such as she, a virtual jewel in a proverbial haystack,
chose me to learn ATS from, which as of Nov. 2009 became,
for BSBD and EEBD and all of our students and my Teachers, SGI.
Thank you, Stefanie!
(Stefanie also appears on my 3
latest DVDs, released in early 2009!)
